A bstract After motivating an interest in the shape of topological charge density spectral function hot Yang-Mills theories, we estimate it with help thermally averaged classical real-time simulations, for N c = 2 , 3. subtracting a perturbative contribution at large frequencies, observe non-trivial small frequencies (a dip rather than peak), interpolating smoothly towards sphaleron rate zero frequency. Possible frequency scales making appearance this are discussed. Implications warm axion inflation and reheating, imaginary-time lattice measurements strong rate, recapitulated.
